I.C.T. at Nendrum College

The department has two suites of RM c2K work stations.  Both suites have broadband internet connection, mono and colour laser printers, scanners and interactive whiteboards.

All pupils are timetabled for one period a week in years 8, 9 and 10.  During this time they develop their skills in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, desk top publishing, presenting information, modelling, using the internet and e-mail.

Other departments regularly use the ICT suites to enable pupils to research topics, present information and use subject specific software to improve learning.

All pupils study ICT to GCSE level.  Building on the skills developed in Years 8 ? 10 pupils are prepared for the GCSE Business and Communication Systems examination offered by AQA.  Pupils are also given the opportunity to sit OCR examinations in Text Processing and Word Processing.

ICT is considered as one of today?s key skills.  Computers are used in all aspects of life. Pupils can take the skills they have acquired at Nendrum College into the work place or onto courses of further and higher education.
